As a member of the Committee on Home and School Health (HASH) for the Ohio chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, I investigated recess in schools in the United States. I was the lead author of an article which was published in the November, 2010 issue of Journal of School Health.

In July, 2009, the OAAP launched a public-awareness advocacy campaign to preserve recess in Ohio’s elementary schools. I was invited to present the study at the kick-off of the campaign, and after the forum, we sent a press release to media around the state of Ohio. As a result, I was interviewed or cited in several news outlets around the state:
